For many, Pierce Brosnan is the quintessential James Bond. He was the fun one. He blew up Russian missile bases against all odds, hypnotising us with absurd pyrotechnics (and delivering utterly terrible double entendres: "I thought Christmas only comes once a year," he says to Denise Richard's impossibly-named Dr. Christmas Jones).
And the sentiment remains. In his silver years, Brosnan still retains the charm of his turn on the Walther PPK - and the wardrobe. We've seen boxy tuxedos and Seventies softcore sunglasses. Lest we forget a cummerbund destined for an opera house shootout. Just last year, the Brosnan brood dressed for their own Bond audition of sorts too. But it seems they're coming for papa dearest's 007 crown: at the 77th annual Golden Globes, Brosnan's own special strain of classic Bond was superseded by his sons once more.
You can thank two incredibly sharp tuxedos. Where The World Is Not Enough star turned off the lights on black tie (an increasingly popular move in Hollywood postcodes), his sons went for the Nineties razor-sharp tux of their father's back catalogue. The rules were followed. Shirts were pristine. Bow ties immaculate. Hems and sleeves and legs all sitting in the right place. You can thank Giorgio Armani: the evening's brand of choice for the entire family.
This stuff would even crack the face of the then M (the ever-dour Judi Dench). And ours. In the grand tradition of kids trying to distance themselves from the aesthetic of their parents, the Brosnan boys are leaning in, and proving that Pierce Brosnan's Bond had one of the best wardrobes yet. They should know. They're better at it.
